Description: This association occurs in seeps along the margins of major creeks in the Cumberland Plateau. <i>Osmunda regalis</i> is the dominant herbaceous component. Other herbaceous components include <i>Onoclea sensibilis, Justicia americana</i>, and <i>Sphagnum</i> sp. Shrubs, such as <i>Alnus serrulata, Cornus</i> sp., and <i>Itea virginica</i>, may be present in variable amounts. It is maintained by saturated soil conditions and periodic scouring by seasonal floods.
