Description: This association represents temporarily flooded forests in the West Gulf Coastal Plain of Texas and perhaps elsewhere in this region which are dominated by <i>Fagus grandifolia</i>. Other species noted in a stand from the Angelina National Forest (Texas) include <i>Quercus nigra, Quercus laurifolia</i>, and <i>Pinus taeda</i>. The herbaceous layer may be dominated by <i>Chasmanthium laxum</i>.
