Name: Calamagrostis breweri - Oreostemma alpigenum Grassland Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019 Description: This herbaceous association is currently only known from Yosemite National Park in California, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. Stands of this association occur on very gentle lower slopes and basin floors between 2440 and 3050 m (8000-10,000 feet) of elevation. Aspect is not important for the type as slopes seldom exceed 2%. Sites are seasonally saturated/flooded, and usually have perennial subsurface moisture. Soils are sandy to silt loams. This alpine/subalpine meadow association contains <i>Calamagrostis breweri</i> as the dominant grass in the herbaceous layer, with other graminoids such as <i>Danthonia intermedia, Carex filifolia, Carex fissuricola</i>, and <i>Deschampsia cespitosa</i> important species. Several other graminoids may be present at low cover values. <i>Oreostemma alpigenum</i> is the dominant forb, with the subshrub <i>Vaccinium cespitosum</i> present, but in low cover. Other forb associates may include <i>Gentianopsis holopetala, Senecio scorzonella, Polygonum bistortoides, Ranunculus alismifolius, Sibbaldia procumbens, Ptilagrostis kingii, Muhlenbergia filiformis, Carex subnigricans</i>, and/or <i>Antennaria</i> spp.  Accession Code: urn:lsid:vegbank.org:commConcept:36695-{D9F990AD-79CE-4D08-86A1-A428872958AD} Plot-observations of this Community Concept: 5
