Name: Elymus glaucus - Carex feta Wet Meadow
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This herbaceous association is currently only known from Yosemite National Park in California, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. Stands are found at low to mid elevations (1190-2290 m [3900-7500 feet]) on the bottoms of mountain valleys and basin floors. Soils are very poorly drained to moderately well-drained with textures ranging from sand to peat and of igneous granitic parent material. Litter ranges from 30-99% cover but tends to be high. Disturbance tends to be from invasion of exotics, road or trail construction, and development with low to medium impact levels. Some sites may be in seasonally flooded, palustrine areas. This association forms a continuous herbaceous layer (0.5-1 m tall) dominated by Elymus glaucus, Carex feta, and Poa pratensis. Often found in this association are Lotus unifoliolatus var. unifoliolatus, Rumex acetosella, Artemisia douglasiana, and Potentilla sp. Occasionally, Carex athrostachya, Juncus xiphioides, Penstemon rydbergii var. oreocharis, Achillea millefolium, Juncus sp., and Solidago californica are common. Other species that may be found contributing to minor cover may include Agrostis gigantea, Bromus hordeaceus, Bromus arvensis, Bromus tectorum, Carex sp., Deschampsia danthonioides, Equisetum laevigatum, Euthamia occidentalis, Lessingia leptoclada, Leptosiphon ciliatus, Stachys albens, Madia elegans ssp. elegans, Muhlenbergia richardsonis, and Poa compressa.
