Description: This shrubland has an open canopy where <i>Isocoma menziesii</i> is the dominant shrub, and <i>Artemisia californica</i> is a characteristically codominant shrub. Herbs that are often present are <i>Atriplex semibaccata</i> and <i>Nassella pulchra</i>. The herbaceous layer is open to scattered. The association is known to occur on San Miguel, Santa Cruz, and Santa Rosa islands and is likely to occur on the California mainland. It occurs on all slope positions at primarily south-facing aspects. Elevations range from 30 to 190 m. Soils are loams, fine clay and sand.
