Description: This scrub association is endemic to the Channel Islands of California, and forms an open to scattered shrub canopy with an herbaceous layer that is open to scattered. <i>Coreopsis gigantea</i> is the dominant shrub and characteristic shrubs include <i>Lotus dendroideus</i> and <i>Isocoma menziesii</i>. <i>Baccharis pilularis</i> is often present and <i>Castilleja lanata ssp. hololeuca</i> is sometimes present. <i>Carpobrotus chilensis</i> (exotic) is the dominant herb and <i>Erigeron glaucus</i> is characteristic. Herbs sometimes present include <i>Astragalus miguelensis, Bromus diandrus, Bromus maritimus, Calystegia macrostegia ssp. macrostegia, Chenopodium californicum, Corethrogyne filaginifolia, Distichlis spicata, Eschscholzia californica, Malacothrix incana</i>, and <i>Malacothrix saxatilis var. implicata</i>. This association is under-sampled but has been found at all slope positions and all aspects. Elevations range from approximately 25 to 140 m. Soils are derived from a variety of substrates but primarily alluvium, as well as shale and other sedimentary substrates. Soil textures include loamy sand.
