Name: Coreopsis gigantea / Dudleya greenei Scrub
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This island scrub association is endemic to the Channel Islands of southern California. It forms an open to patchy shrub layer, with an herbaceous layer that is sparse to patchy. Coreopsis gigantea is the dominant shrub, and Isocoma menziesii is often present. Herbs that are often present are Bromus diandrus, Dudleya greenei, and Erigeron glaucus. Lichens are commonly associated nonvascular plants. The association is known from San Miguel and Anacapa islands. It is found primarily on the upper third of the slope, and at primarily northerly aspects. Elevations range from approximately 10 to 180 m. Soils are derived from a variety of substrates but primarily tertiary volcanic flow rocks with minor pyroclastic deposits. Soil textures include sand and clay, as well as sandy and clay loams.
