Description: This association is characterized by an open to dense herbaceous layer of <i>Calystegia macrostegia ssp. macrostegia, Erigeron glaucus, Malacothrix incana</i>, and <i>Sisyrinchium bellum</i>. At least one of these species must be present. The cover of these native species combined is greater than 15% relative cover. The overall herbaceous cover ranges from 4 to 69%. It may be low in total canopy cover. Additional native species that may be seen at higher cover are <i>Astragalus miguelensis, Eschscholzia californica, Lupinus succulentus</i>, and <i>Medicago polymorpha</i>. Non-native species that may have high cover include <i>Bromus diandrus</i> and <i>Carpobrotus</i> species, especially <i>Carpobrotus chilensis</i>. This association is found on the Channel Islands of southern California. It occurs in sandy areas and sometimes when caliche is present.
