Description: This grassland has an open to dense herbaceous layer of <i>Nassella pulchra, Avena</i> spp., and <i>Bromus diandrus</i>. The overall herbaceous cover ranges from 19 to 86%. Non-native annual bromes and <i>Avena</i> spp. are greater than 35% of the herbaceous layer, while the native <i>Nassella pulchra</i> is usually 5% or more absolute cover and characterizes the stand. This type is known from the Channel Islands and throughout mainland California. Elevations range from approximately 10 to 470 m. Soil textures include fine clays and clay loams.
