Name: Mimulus eastwoodiae - Primula specuicola Hanging Garden
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: These small-patch and low-statured herbaceous wetlands are found in "hanging gardens" and hillslope spring locations. The vegetation is dominated by the forbs Mimulus eastwoodiae and Primula specuicola in equal amounts. Hanging gardens occur in areas where springs form waterfalls on cliff faces either along the backwall of alcoves or on exposed cliff faces. They are spectacular lush wetlands, if small in area, and form a striking contrast in the dry desert environment. This association occurs in northern Arizona and southern Utah.
