It is created to facilitate regularized local land unit mapping of a managed area and to provide a standard label for polygons in a vegetation map. It includes successional shrublands and woodlands of disturbed floodplains, seepage wetlands, and artificial impoundments (including impoundments due to beaver activity). They are typically dominated by <i>Salix nigra, Populus deltoides, Alnus serrulata</i>, and/or <i>Cephalanthus occidentalis</i>.
