Description: This nonvascular vegetation consists of xeric lichen-dominated vegetation, codominated by <i>Lasallia papulosa</i> and <i>Lasallia caroliniana</i>. It is known from moderate to high elevations of the Southern Blue Ridge of Tennessee and North Carolina, where it occurs on steeply sloping exfoliation outcrops of felsic metamorphic rocks. Examples are known from the steeply sloping exfoliation dome faces on Grandfather Mountain, North Carolina, and probably at Roan Mountain, Tennessee and North Carolina.
