Description: These are open forests of the southern coastal plains of the United States dominated by a mix of oak and hickory species, including <i>Carya tomentosa, Carya glabra, Carya pallida, Nyssa sylvatica, Quercus alba, Quercus margarettae, Quercus marilandica, Quercus stellata</i>, and <i>Quercus velutina</i>. The shrub stratum is typically dominated by <i>Vaccinium pallidum</i>. This is a poorly known vegetation assemblage which is found in the southern coastal plains of the United States from South Carolina to Alabama and possibly to Mississippi.
