Description: This alliance includes mesic to wet savannas of the West Gulf Coastal Plain of Louisiana and Texas dominated by <i>Pinus palustris</i>. They contain a diverse and variable understory and ground layer, with much endemism in the field (herb) stratum, which is well-developed and very species-rich. Dominant herbs are mostly graminoids and include <i>Ctenium aromaticum</i> (within its range, east of the Sabine River), <i>Eriocaulon decangulare, Eryngium integrifolium, Eupatorium</i> spp., <i>Muhlenbergia expansa, Panicum virgatum, Rhexia lutea, Rhynchospora globularis, Rhynchospora glomerata, Rhynchospora plumosa</i>, and <i>Rhynchospora</i> spp.
