Description: Stands of this herbaceous wetland alliance are primarily dominated low forbs and vegetation cover is variable. <i>Polygonum pensylvanicum</i> is typically dominant but some stands contain the exotic <i>Polygonum lapathifolium</i>. Associates in Oklahoma include <i>Ammannia coccinea, Helianthus annuus, Lemna minor, Spirodela polyrrhiza, Stuckenia pectinata, Utricularia gibba</i>, and <i>Xanthium strumarium</i>. Stands of this alliance are flooded for most or all of the growing season. Sites are found in wet depressions, lakes, and ponds in the southern Great Plains.
