Name: Pinus contorta - Picea sitchensis Alaskan Wooded Bog Alliance
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This alliance consists of deep peat, organic, treed fens and bogs dominated in the upper canopy by Pinus contorta and/or Picea sitchensis on gentle slopes. These are open woodlands with trees that are at least 5 m tall, but the canopy layer can be very open (10-20%). Thick sphagnum moss species cover the ground, and a low-shrub layer may or may not be present. This alliance occurs in south-central and southeastern Alaska.
