Description: This alliance consists of deep peat, organic, treed fens and bogs dominated in the upper canopy by <i>Pinus contorta</i> and/or <i>Thuja plicata</i> on gentle slopes. These are very open woodlands (10-20% cover) with trees that are at least 5 m tall. Thick sphagnum moss species cover the ground, and a low-shrub layer may or may not be present. This alliance occurs in southern British Columbia coastal areas extending into Washington.
