Name: Ranunculus aquatilis - Callitriche palustris - Callitriche heterophylla Aquatic Vegetation Alliance
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This aquatic herbaceous alliance consists of floating communities dominated by Callitriche heterophylla, Callitriche palustris, Ranunculus aquatilis, and/or Ranunculus lobbii. It is widespread in the western U.S. and western Canada and found in natural ponds, stockponds, ditches and slow-moving streams, at low-elevations (152-580 m [500-1900 feet]). The water at these sites is often poorly oxygenated and nitrogen-rich. Water depths are on average <0.5 m deep. Soils are organic oozes (Sapric Histosols), organic rich loams, silt, sandy loams or sands.
