Name: Potamogeton foliosus - Potamogeton nodosus Freshwater Aquatic Vegetation Group Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019 Description: This tropical, freshwater aquatic bed group consists entirely of submerged, partially submerged or floating vegetation lacking structural support. Many of the dominant species may remain dormant/dry for part of the year and complete their reproductive cycle during the wet part of the year. <i>Potamogeton foliosus</i> and <i>Potamogeton nodosus</i> are characteristic species. This aquatic vegetation group is found in permanently flooded reservoirs, ponds, pools, slow-moving streams, irrigation ditches, canals, and open bodies of water surrounded by freshwater marshes. Mean water depths of these habitats are too great for rooted emergent plants.
