Name: Caribbean Wet Montane Forest Group
Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019
Description: This group includes tall rainforests growing above 800 m and up to nearly 2000 m elevation on tall mountains in Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, where the moisture caused by almost daily presence of mist is enough to influence the structure and composition of the forest, characterized by bryophytes covering most tree trunks and branches, as well as being abundant in the ground layer. Bromeliads, ferns and orchids are also abundant as epiphytes and in some of these forests the presence of palms and tree ferns is common.
