Description: The macrogroup encompass the mopane-dominated low shrubland or savanna communities that are located at the western edge of the Central African Plateau between Namibia and Angola. This region is above about 1000 m elevation, is mostly flat except towards the edges, and has low precipitation (between 400 and 600 mm annually), falling in late summer. The vegetation structure ranges from low thorny thickets with sparse emergent trees to dense woodlands. In all cases it is dominated by the mopane species <i>Colophospermum mopane</i> associated with <i>Acacia kirkii, Acacia nilotica ssp. subalata, Acacia hebeclada ssp. tristis, Acacia erubescens, Balanites angloensis, Combretum apiculatum, Commiphora</i> spp., <i>Dichanthium annulatum var. papillosum, Dichrostachys cinerea, Grewia villosa, Indigofera schimperi, Jatropha campestris, Melanthera marlothiana, Peltophorum africanum, Rhigozum brevispinosum, Rhigozum virgatum, Securinega virosa, Spirostachys africana, Terminalia prunioides, Terminalia sericea, Ximenia americana</i>, and <i>Ximenia caffra</i>.
