Description: This forest type represents the high-altitude communities located in the northern provinces of South Africa and in Lesotho. It occurs on kloofs and low ridges, slopes and scarps of the Low Escarpment, between 1450 and 1900 m elevation. Mean annual precipitation is 1050 mm and in the form of summer rainfall. Dominant tree species are <i>Podocarpus latifolius, Olinia emarginata, Halleria lucida, Scolopia mundii, Pittosporum viridiflorum, Celtis africana, Mimusops zeyheri, Buddleja saligna</i>, and <i>Ilex mitis</i>.
