Name: Northern Afrotemperate Forest Macrogroup Reference: NatureServe Biotics 2019 Description: This forest type represents the high-altitude communities located in the northern provinces of South Africa and in Lesotho. It occurs on kloofs and low ridges, slopes and scarps of the Low Escarpment, between 1450 and 1900 m elevation. Mean annual precipitation is 1050 mm and in the form of summer rainfall.
