Description: These dry deciduous forests occur from northwestern Madagascar south to near Fort Dauphin at between 0 and 800 m elevation. The dry season lasts 6-8 months. Characteristic species of this forest type are <i>Dalbergia</i> spp. and <i>Cassia</i> spp. (Leguminosae), <i>Ficus</i> spp. (Moraceae), and <i>Adansonia madagascariensis</i>.
