Description: The Sperrgebied is the northern tip of the Succulent Karoo biome and constitutes the southwestern corner of Namibia, an arid area where most of the diamond mining of the country occurs. Its succulent flora has very high levels of endemism, and much of it is protected from desiccating winds by rock formations in the shape of horseshoes.
