Description: This macrogroup includes different vegetation types, from semi-arid mixed woodland dominated by <i>Acacia</i> spp. (<i>Acacia tortilis, Acacia mellifera</i>), <i>Commiphora, Grewia, Euphorbia, Boswellia</i> spp., and <i>Balanites aegyptiacus</i>, to scrub or thicket when the components form denser communities, and grassland communities of <i>Aristida, Stipa</i>, and <i>Chloris</i> grasses. It occurs on the northeastern part of Africa from the southeast corner of Sudan throughout lowland Ethiopia (400-800 m), Kenya, up to northern Tanzania. Bimodal or unimodal precipitation is &lt;600 mm and often with multi-year dry spans.
