Description: This macrogroup encompass the shrubby plant communities of the North Sahel region with two types of distribution of shrubs: clumps interspersed on almost bare soils and also regularly distributed. The mean annual precipitation in the region is 100-200 mm. Main woody species are <i>Acacia tortilis ssp. raddiana, Acacia ehrenbergiana, Grewia tenax, Salvadora persica, Leptadenia pyrotechnica, Maerua crassifolia, Cordia sinensis, Boscia senegalensis, Capparis decidua, Balanites aegyptiacus</i>, and <i>Hyphaene thebaica</i>.
