Description: The macrogroup includes upland forests of the Orinoco Delta and those of the valleys of the lower reaches of tributary streams of the Orinoco. In general it occupy non-flooded plains and low hills, but the lower parts are flooded temporarily or sporadically. Forests are up to 25-30 m tall, generally evergreen and with three arboreal strata. Palms are abundant and in lower or less drainage sites <i>Mora excelsa</i> is clearly dominant.
