Description: This macrogroup represents the hygro-halophilous communities at the margins of coastal lagoons, of the wet swales in the dune-and-swale complex, and at the margins of estuaries on the Chilean Pacific Coast. Dominant species are <i>Sarcocornia fruticosa</i> and <i>Distichlis spicata</i>, associated with <i>Chorizanthe virgata</i> or <i>Carpobrotus aequilaterus</i>, which grow on the dunes. Common emergent species of the inundated communities are <i>Schoenoplectus californicus (= Scirpus californicus)</i> and <i>Typha angustifolia</i>.
