Description: This macrogroup includes shrubby communities of the Brazilian Caatinga, characterized by the presence of columnar cacti, bromeliads, and other annual and perennial forbs. It occurs on the tops and cliff edges of table-like formations near the San Francisco River in a dry area with deep, sandy substrates that originated from erosion and sediments left by the river.
