This shrubland association is currently only known from Yosemite National Park in California, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. Stands of this vegetation are found between 2650 and 3110 m (8700-10,200 feet) of elevation on varied slopes and aspects, but largely southerly facing. Stands are near seeps or streams with perennial moisture. Soils are gravelly silt loams to loamy sands, and often carbonate-rich. This dwarf-shrubland is heavily dominated by <i>Artemisia rothrockii</i>. The only shrubs which co-occur in this association are <i>Symphoricarpos rotundifolius, Ribes montigenum</i>, and <i>Holodiscus discolor</i>. Graminoids dominate the open herbaceous layer, and species composition may be highly variable among stands. <i>Carex filifolia, Danthonia intermedia</i>, and/or <i>Poa wheeleri</i> are the most common graminoid associates. Forbs only total a small amount of cover in this association, typified by the diagnostic forb <i>Monardella odoratissima</i>. Other forbs which are often present, at very low cover values, may include <i>Antennaria rosea, Penstemon rydbergii, Juncus</i> sp., and/or <i>Horkelia fusca</i>. Twenty-five other species have been recorded on plots of this association, but none achieve more than 30% constancy. The forb <i>Castilleja miniata</i> and the graminoid <i>Poa wheeleri</i> each achieve 5% cover in 30% of plots. All other recorded species (mostly graminoids) only contribute a trace to the overall cover. |

This alliance consists of ruderal vegetation dominated by the invasive alien Hydrilla verticillata. It may occur in both natural and man-made lakes. Hydrilla verticillata is an invasive alien species. Since its introduction, it has rapidly spread across the southeastern United States, its spread into man-made lakes being exacerbated by the transport of propagules on boat propellers. It produces vegetative propagules known as turions, which can resist desiccation for long periods of time. |

This herbaceous association is currently only known from Yosemite National Park in California, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. Stands of this association occur on basin floors to midslopes between 2900 and 3170 m (9500-10,400 feet) of elevation. Aspect does not seem to be important in differentiating this type. Slopes are gentle to moderate. Sites are temporarily saturated/flooded and soils are sandy to silt loams. This association is heavily dominated by <i>Calamagrostis breweri</i> (50% cover), with <i>Trisetum spicatum</i> (5% cover) an important species. Other graminoids providing traces of cover include <i>Luzula congesta, Ptilagrostis kingii, Carex subnigricans</i>, and/or <i>Phleum alpinum</i>. Forbs provide up to about 10% cover, and the most common include <i>Potentilla drummondii, Solidago multiradiata, Castilleja lemmonii, Oreostemma alpigenum, Antennaria media, Pedicularis groenlandica, Penstemon heterodoxus, Rumex paucifolius</i>, and/or <i>Senecio scorzonella</i>. |

This herbaceous association is currently only known from Yosemite National Park in California, and the following description is based on occurrences there. Additional information will be added as it becomes available. Stands of this alpine and subalpine grassland are found between 2650 and 3500 m (8700-11,500 feet) of elevation on gentle to moderate slopes. Aspects are variable and do not seem to be diagnostic for this type. Stands are found on basin floors, lower to upper slopes. Soils are clay loams to silt loams derived from igneous or metamorphic parent materials. This subalpine to alpine meadow grassland is dominated by <i>Carex filifolia</i> (20% cover) and <i>Trisetum spicatum</i> (5% cover). Associates are highly variable, but the most constant species are the forbs <i>Antennaria rosea</i> and <i>Solidago multiradiata</i>. Graminoids, which provide trace cover, may include <i>Danthonia intermedia, Poa secunda, Poa stebbinsii, Carex subnigricans, Carex filifolia, Carex breweri, Elymus elymoides</i>, and/or <i>Juncus patens</i>. Forb associates may include <i>Trifolium monanthum</i> and traces of <i>Antennaria media, Arenaria kingii, Castilleja nana, Eriogonum ovalifolium, Penstemon heterodoxus</i>, and/or <i>Potentilla drummondii</i>. |
