Ceratophyllum demersum Western Herbaceous Vegetation
» more details
accession code: VB.CC.31856.CEGL004017
Western Ecology Working Group of...  0 From Christy (2004): "Habitat is low-elevation, low-gradient, eutrophic streams and rivers, ponds, lakes, and sloughs. This is a non-rooted aquatic association that is widespread in western Oregon, but it has not been sampled and little information is available. <i>Ceratophyllum demersum </i>forms dense, monotypic submerged beds that do not emerge above the surface of the water. Eutrophic conditions favored by this association may be enhanced by enriched runoff in agricultural or urban landscapes. Though a native species, <i>Ceratophyllum demersum </i>is a well-known pest in many lakes where rank aquatic vegetation interferes with recreation."

Pseudoroegneria spicata - Poa secunda Lithosolic Herbaceous Vegetation
» more details
accession code: VB.CC.23704.PSEUDOROEGNERIA
Western Ecology Working Group of...  0 This association is known from sites in the lower Snake River basin and northern Wallowa Mountains. Stands also appear to occur in the upper Hells Canyon region within Idaho. The association is transitional to ridgetop habitats that do not support Pseudoroegneria spicata (Poa secunda - Danthonia unispicata sites) and those that support Festuca idahoensis (e.g., Festuca idahoensis - Koeleria macrantha sites). The association occurs on gentle to moderately steep, south- to southwest-facing convex ridgetops at 4000-5200 feet elevation. Shallow soils are derived from basalt bedrock. Pseudoroegneria spicata dominates these scabland bunchgrass stands. Poa secunda is codominant. Principal indicator forbs include Lomatium cous, Erigeron chrysopsidis, Balsamorhiza incana, Sedum lanceolatum, and Sedum stenopetalum.
