This seasonally flooded wetland occurs on the North Atlantic Coastal Plain of New Jersey in topographically defined basins. The dominant species are <i>Dichanthelium spretum, Dichanthelium dichotomum var. dichotomum, Dichanthelium dichotomum (= var. mattamuskeetense), Panicum verrucosum, Panicum rigidulum var. pubescens</i>, and <i>Andropogon virginicus</i>. Other associates include <i>Amphicarpum purshii, Andropogon glomeratus, Carex striata var. brevis, Cyperus dentatus, Cyperus retrorsus, Drosera intermedia, Dulichium arundinaceum, Eleocharis olivacea, Eleocharis tricostata, Fimbristylis autumnalis, Hypericum canadense, Juncus canadensis, Juncus effusus, Juncus pelocarpus, Proserpinaca pectinata, Rhexia mariana, Rhynchospora chalarocephala, Scleria reticularis, Viola lanceolata, Xyris difformis var. difformis</i>, and <i>Sphagnum</i> spp. This vegetation occurs on broad flats and gentle mid-slopes of ponds. The substrate is a thin organic horizon overtopping deep sand. |

This association is only known from the Santa Monica Mountains region. This woodland association occurs on gentle to steep slopes, often with north-facing aspects at elevations between 298 and 801 m. <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> and <i>Umbellularia californica</i> are dominant in the tree layer, <i>Ceanothus oliganthus</i> in the understory shrub layer, and a variety of grasses and forbs in the herbaceous layer. |

This association is only sampled from the Santa Monica Mountains region. However, it is anecdotally known from much of cismontane California. This herbaceous association occurs on gentle to steep slopes of variable aspect at low elevations between 41 and 483 m. It is codominated by <i>Centaurea melitensis</i> and <i>Brassica nigra</i> in the herbaceous layer. <i>Hazardia squarrosa, Salvia leucophylla</i>, and <i>Artemisia californica</i> are often found in the shrub layer at low cover, and <i>Juglans californica</i> and <i>Quercus agrifolia</i> are infrequently found in the tree layer at low cover. |
