Take Russell Field Trail past the grassy bald before the AT. The trail continues past the field into a laurel, rhodo thicket. The plot is below the spring near Russell Field shelter in a flat area to the the west of the trail.
Much sphagnum in the area. High elevation concave seep, flat area associated with a spring -- Approx. 1-2 acre seep, surrounded by dense Betula/Rhodo thicket. The Rhododendron is patchy in places. Rhodo becomes more dense the farther west Russell Branch goes.
