Walk on Bullhead Trail roughly 4 miles (=5000 '). Location is Southwest of Balsam Point. The plot is directly to the right of the trail about 10 meters on a steep boulder slope.
Steep talus slope, thickly covered in herbs. No seeps, but site is definitely moist (cloud fog?). Undulating slope, overall slightly concave. Many trees growing on large rocks. Marginal soil. No B horizon collected. -- Heath bald above. High elevation cove forest bank in ravine. Rockier site to south of plot has heavy abundance of Solidago glomerata.

Observation Narrative
Northern Hardwoods. While this site is rocky & bouldery, its not quite what I think of as a periglacial boulderfield. Beech appear to be healthy.
Rare plant: Allium burdickii
Evidence on wind/ice damage. Trees are relatively tall, but gnarly & contorted due to past ice events. Large canopy to north of plot...Thick blackberry.
