Across backchannel is a steep slope/cliffband which has some Rhododendron maximum (rare in Bluestone). Above that is an old road and oak matrix forest on east slope (see BLUE.58). Very steep slope across creek.;Floodplain forest along flashy, tributary river. Located on alluvial terrace with a backchannel at edge of a steep slope/cliff band. Forest of walnut, bitternut hickory, ash, red oak with a tall shrub layer of blue beech and spicebush. Sycamores are growing along edges of stand along both the river side and along backchannel. Decaying flotsam piles behind trees roughly 2 ft. tall.
Representativeness
Stand is a highly variable narrow terrace with mostly young trees. Plot is towards high end of "island" which may flood more often than lower end. Some other areas have abundant Robinia or Carpinus tall shrub with scattered Juglans
