Surrounding land use is occassional upland logging. This part of the valley is Refuge in much of the uplands as well as the wetlands. From camp 70 road the communities transition from Hawthorn savannah, Vaccinium mytilliodes - Polytrichum, Aspen clone, Alder thicket to open Eriophorum - Sphagnum fen. See plots CVWR.13,14,15,16.;Appears to be successional from previous land uses (historic logging and grazing). The community is surrounded on all sides by the Wildlife Refuge. Protecting the area from any future disturbances.
