Landscape Narrative ? Mountaintop/ridge system with spruce polygons embedded in a matrix of northern hardwoods. See plots MONF.284-286 in mature polygon.;Older spruce forest on ridge shoulder. Forest of large, tall, well spaced trees with subcanopy of pole sized trees. Lots of down wood in plot and more exposed litter than in previous plots sampled today (204-286). There is one sawn stump in plot which is covered with moss and lichen. Older trees >100 yrs, T3 tree cored ca. 60 yrs.
