Mature Ceanothus cuneatus stand on southwest-facing slope of small drainage on west face of peninsula which juts out into New Melones Reservoir. Shell Road and Table Mountain to south. Shrubs large, >2 m in height, 2-3 m broad. Density varies as move through stand. Some pockets of open space between shrubs. Ceanothus cuneatus surrounded by Quercus wislizeni woodland, and a little bit of Quercus douglasii to north. Herbaceous layer dense. Primarily exotic annual grasses but numerous native forbs as well.
upland; Mixed Chaparral; Old fence line runs along south ridge of drainage. Area likely to have been grazed historically. Many of the Ceanothus cuneatus have only litter under their canopy and soil is loose. Several small mammal holes seen under Ceanothus.
