Dense stand of mature Adenostoma fasciculatum. Shrubs as tall as 3 meters, avg. 1.5-2 m. Stand is directly off (NW side) of Shell Road approx. 0.6 mi east of west BOR gate. Adenostoma fasciculatum stand (and 0 m) begins just below fenceline which runs parallel to road. Stand bordered by Quercus wislizeni stands in drainages east and west of stand and on southeast side of road.
upland; Chamise-Redshank Chaparral; Stand is predominantly chamise with scattered toyon. Understory is largely litter with herbaceous species found mainly at edge of stand. Substantial moss layer growing on rock and soil under shrub canopy. Lichens abundant on chamise stems.
