The stand consists of three N-facing slopes connected by a drainage at the bottom. Shell Rd. runs through the stand and the plot begins just to the N of the road on the N side of a barbed wire fence. There is continuous cover of Quercus wislizeni, intermittent to open cover of Heteromeles arbutifolia and Toxicodendron diversilobum in the shrub layer, and mostly Lepechinia and litter in the herb layer.
upland; Blue Oak Woodland; The stand has a Quercus wislizeni overstory with dense toyon in the shrub and subcanopy layer. Chamise occurs on the edges of the releve and some manzanita are in the understory (most are dead). The stand has openings in between Quercus wislizeni dominated by toyon, chamise, or Arctostaphylos manzanita. There are many multi-trunked Quercus wislizeni but most of them are less than 10 cm in diameter.
