Observation Narrative ? Community Type: sea level fen Community Description: Very wet sea level fen community located on the N side of Jesse's Creek. To the north, lie hydric woods dominated by Chamaecyparis thyoides and Pinus rigida. A few shrubs are found at the upper margin. This section of fen is quite diverse. Drier areas of dominated by Cladium and Agrostis sp.; wetter sections by Typha angustifolia with Proserpinaca palustris and Bidens, Asclepias, and Scirpus pungens. The site is not disturbed. Small channels meander throughout the site and join Jesse's Creek. Soil is peat over muck to a depth of about 64 cm, then light gray sand. The water table is about 12 cm below the surface.
