Community Type: sea level fen
Community Description: Possible sea level fen, seaward of shrub thicket and landward of salt marsh. Fen is dominated by graminoids, with very few shrubs or broad-leaved forbs. Fen is very wet, with some small amount of open water, for about 200' from edge of shrub thicket. This wet area is dominated by Cladium, with some Panicum virgatum. Going seaward, Sparina patens becomes more common, and there are patches of Eleocharis rostellata. Shrubs include Toxicodendron radicans, which forms small tussocks; Vaccinium corymbosum, mostly near the thicket edge; and some Baccharis halimifolia scattered throughout.
