Community Type: coastal plain pond
General Description: Coastal plain pond ("CPP") surrounded by pitch pine/black huckleberry-scrub oak upland. CPP has 4 basic vegetation zones: 1) Chamaedaphne border, 2) Panicum longifolium/sedge zone (50%), 3) open substrate/herbaceous zone, 4) Juncus effusus zone. The distinctive feature of this pond is the J. effusus zone. Some small sedges are present but many brown leaves.
Community Description: This zone occupies the center portion of the pond and is surrounded by open water and is itself flooded. Two patches of Chamaedaphne are present. It represents approximately 15% of the total pond area.
