Observation Narrative
Despite being mapped as the Lynchburg Formation, it is evident from the presence of peculiar Mg tolerant plants that at least some of the underlying rock is HGB or similar. A distinctive, small, open cobble seep of about 150 m along headwaters branch of an unnamed tributary of Laurel Fork, south of Buffalo Mountain. Although very small in extent, the habitat is naturally open and supports a number of significant light demanding species absent from the adjoining oligotrophic woodland.
