Description: This alliance occurs in subalpine meadows in the mountains of western Wyoming. Elevations range from 2040-2835 m. Sites vary from gentle to steep slopes with eastern to southwestern aspects, but are most often moderately steep mid to upper slopes. Communities in this alliance often have a patchy, moderately dense herbaceous layer that is dominated by perennial forbs. At least 10% cover each of ~Agastache urticifolia, Heliomeris multiflora$, or ~Senecio serra$ is present in these stands. Other frequent forb associates include ~Eucephalus engelmannii (= Aster engelmannii), Geranium viscosissimum, Lupinus argenteus$, and ~Delphinium X occidentale$. The two most common graminoids are ~Elymus trachycaulus$ and ~Bromus carinatus$. Scattered clumps of the deciduous shrub ~Symphoricarpos oreophilus$ are common, and occasional ~Populus tremuloides$ trees may also be present.
