Description: This alliance includes communities known as 'badlands' over saline gypseous clays, very sparsely vegetated with perennial shrubs and herbs, with annuals periodically present and dominant following rains. Dominant annuals are ~Tidestromia carnosa, Kallstroemia grandiflora, Chamaesyce$ spp., and ~Pectis angustifolia$. Other species include ~Cathestecum erectum, Atriplex obovata, Neolloydia conoidea$, and ~Echinocactus horizonthalonius$. This alliance occurs in the desert regions of western Texas.
