Associated species can include ~Juniperus monosperma, Juniperus osteosperma, Juniperus deppeana, Juniperus coahuilensis (= Juniperus erythrocarpa), Quercus arizonica, Cercocarpus montanus, Cercocarpus ledifolius, Arctostaphylos pungens, Artemisia tridentata, Rhus trilobata, Bouteloua gracilis, Andropogon hallii, Festuca arizonica, Muhlenbergia dubia$, and others.
