Description: This association occurs in standing water on the shores of lakes in limestone regions, and is dominated by the tall bulrush Schoenoplectus acutus (= Scirpus acutus). Associates include Carex lasiocarpa, Typha angustifolia, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, and Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani (= Scirpus tabernaemontani). Aquatic plants such as Utricularia minor, Utricularia intermedia, Lemna spp., and Menyanthes trifoliata often form an 'understory' below the bulrushes and cattails.
