Description: This woodland occurs on upland (but subirrigated) saline soils near the coast of southern Texas. Prosopis glandulosa var. glandulosa is the dominant tree. The cactus Acanthocereus tetragonus (= Acanthocereus pentagonus) forms tangled thickets and dominates the shrub stratum. Other prominent shrubs include Condalia hookeri, Celtis pallida, Castela erecta, Zanthoxylum fagara, Lycium berlandieri, and Sideroxylon celastrinum.
