Description: This alliance is found on southern Great Lakes or inland dune systems. Stands are dominated by deciduous shrubs, with a relatively open canopy. ~Prunus pumila$ is a characteristic dominant, but ~Salix cordata, Salix myricoides, Physocarpus opulifolius$, and ~Ptelea trifoliata$ may also be present. The ground layer may consist of open sand with sparse herbaceous vegetation, including ~Ammophila breviligulata$.
